Technology

The Wand

A common fear of the dentist involved the use of local anaesthetic injections to numb your teeth prior to treatment.

At Rochedale Dental Group, we can eliminate the ‘stinging’ sensation that is commonly associated with some injections.

The Wand is a revolutionary computerised device which slows down the delivery of the anaesthetic and more accurately controls the areas to which it is delivered.

The Wand is virtually painless and in some instances can also eliminate the ‘numb face’ feeling that you have after a dental visit.

The Wand is a miracle device for both Dentists and patients alike.

CEREC

A revolutionary piece of technology known as CEREC allows us to computer-generate teeth or parts of teeth that need to be replaced. Once any decay is removed, special software is used to scan patients’ teeth to generate a 3D image. We then design your restoration on the screen before the information is sent to a milling chamber, which creates it from a block of ceramic. This ceramic restoration is then permanently fixed to the damaged tooth.

As it’s so quick, procedures that were once conducted over a number of appointments can now be completed in one sitting. CEREC is commonly used for dental treatments such as fillings, crowns and veneers. They are natural-looking, smooth and durable, with a variety of shades available to match your existing teeth.

Low Dose Digital X-Rays

Low dose digital x-rays use 90 per cent less radiation compared to their traditional film counterparts. They can be viewed moments after completion and provide dental practitioners with accurate, meticulous detail. For patients, this means potential dental problems can be identified and explained during your consultation.

Intra Oral Camera

See what your dentist sees.

The intra oral camera allows your dentist to take you on a guided tour of your mouth so you can see what they see. We find this is particularly effective in increasing patient education and allowing you to better understand the current state of your teeth and mouth as well as any treatments that you may require.

Being a small camera mounted with a tube that is easily guided around the mouth the intra oral camera also allows you to see the results of our work such as the before and after of a clean, crowns or any other treatment.

OPG

Orthopantomograms (OPG) give dentists a panoramic dental x-ray of your upper and lower jawbones. This advanced x-ray machine provides your dentist with an even better idea of what treatment option to proceed with as well as providing a useful tool to better identify TMJ (Thermopormandibular Joint Dysfunction).

Cone Beam CT Scanner

The Cone Beam CT (Computorised Tomography) Scanner creates a 3D image of your jaw bone to help your dentist with diagnostic purposes, treatment planning and bone quality testing. Creating highly accurate representations the CT Scanner is a huge asset in early detection, diagnosis and preventive dentistry.

Philips Zoom Whitening

Philips Zoom is only available at a dentist’s office to ensure optimum safety, and comes in different treatment types such as in-office treatment as well as at home whitening, to fit in with your lifestyle and sensitivity.

Using the Philips Zoom procedure in our office, you could see results of up to 8 shades lighter in as little as 45 minutes.

You can suffer an extent of "fade back" through the consumption of coffee, soft drinks etc so ask us about ongoing maintenance at your appointment. Although we will run you through your aftercare program.
