Children's Dentistry

Our staff are devoted to making your child’s visit here a comfortable, pleasant experience while rendering the best dental treatment available. Our Oral Health Therapists have completed university studies, which enable them to provide dental care for toddlers, children and adolescents. Our goal is to provide complete preventive and restorative oral health care based on an education in child psychology, and years of experience in treating children.

Gap Free Preventative Appointments For Kids

At Rochedale Dental Group, we are passionate about dental health awareness starting at a young age, which is why we introduced our Gap Free Preventative Care for Kids program. Regular dental visits are important for two reasons. Firstly, children should become relaxed and familiar with visiting the dentist from a very early age and give your child the opportunity to explore these new surroundings preparing them for the future. A familiarising visit could be as short as 10 minutes and this can be arranged complimentary though our reception staff. Secondly, we know the value of building good habits in children from a young age because we can help prevent tooth decay from worsening or from developing in the first place.

Tooth decay in the Logan and Beaudesert area is almost double that of the state’s average (Sat 7th August 2010, Courier Mail). Tooth decay in children can be very painful and lead to many sleepless nights for both children and parents. The importance of early detection is essential as research has demonstrated that once a child has developed a severe decay problem, it often means a lifetime at higher risk of tooth decay.

At Rochedale Dental Group, we offer Gap Free Preventative Dental care for children aged 0 to 17. This means, we accept Health Fund Dental rebate as full payment for all cleans, x-rays and fissure seals performed by our Oral Health Therapists (excludes restorative treatment and lab costs).

Bupa Members First patients may be entitled to further Kids Gap Free services. Call us today on 3341 4344 to find out more.

Terms and Conditions: Rebate only for patients with health insurance (with dental cover). Subject to health fund rules, waiting periods and annual maximums.

When should my child have their first visit?

Children should establish a “dental home” no later than their first birthday. Preferably, though, your child should pay a visit to the dentist upon the emergence of their first tooth. The sooner a child becomes acquainted with the Dentist, the better their continued perception of the dental experience will be. By the age of three, your child will be well prepared for a complete oral examination. By introducing your child to dentistry at an early age, we hope to protect your child’s smile for today and prevent potential dental problems for tomorrow.

What can my child expect at their visit?

Our Dentist’s, Oral Health therapists, and support staff staff strive towards making your children feel more relaxed and familiar with the new surroundings. It is normal for children to be afraid of anything new or strange. Many of their fears are manifested through your own apprehensions, so do not be too anxious about your child’s dental visits - you may be pleasantly surprised! We realize that every child learns and comprehends new ideas at a different speed, so we will proceed at a pace that is comfortable to your child. We make every effort to explain everything in age appropriate terms with demonstrations to your child in order to put them at ease with the new experience.

We will always emphasise the positive aspects of the appointment so your child leave with confidence needed for future visits. Our Oral Health Therapists focus on preventing dental problems, and will provide you with tools and instructions for a preventative home care program. We are a team, and with your help and our coaching, we can provide every child with a cavity free smile.
